Future Sermons
Here you’ll find sermons and music from one to several weeks
into the future. Occasionally the listed program may change.
May 18 “Growth: Not How, but Why, and
for Whom?”
Rev. Karen Stoyanoff and Nancy Loughrey
9:30 & 11:15 a.m. Why did we adopt a goal of doubling our size? Surely
it was not only to be bigger. Who are the people we are trying to serve?
What difference will it make? We haven’t talked about these things
recently. They should be shaping our strategy. Nancy Loughrey, President
of OCUUC, will share her thoughts about our vision, why it is important,
and whom we serve in the sermon. Karen will do the readings and a pulpit
editorial.
Music: Orange Coast Choir will sing the opening song from Missa
Gaia (Earth Mass), which will be featured in the June 14 concert.
May 25 “Auction Sermon”
Rev. Karen Stoyanoff,
assisted by Dave Carlson
9:30 & 11:15 a.m. In our January auction, Dave Carlson bought the
sermon that Karen Stoyanoff offered. It will be presented on May 25.
David has chosen a theme of Palestinian issues, and he and Karen are
working on the details right now. More specific information will be available
in the next issue of the REACH.
Music: There will be two special songs about Palestine-Israel relations
during this service, plus of course we’ll sing emma’s revolution’s
song “Peace, Salaam, Shalom” together!
