When are the church services?
During the summer, one Sunday Services is held weekly at 10:30 a.m., and includes music, hymns, readings, and a sermon. Our services are led by the Reverend Karen Stoyanoff or guest speakers. We have many special services throughout the year.
What is the dress code?
We are a diverse congregation. Some people dress up and some dress casually. Wear what feels comfortable to you.
Is there religious education and/or childcare for my children?
Children and youth start and stay for the beginning of the 11:15 a.m. service, when we have a "Time For All Ages." We offer childcare for infants and toddlers at both services. There is Religious Exploration for Children and Youth for children/youth in preschool through high school during the 11:15 AM service. Children are also welcome to stay for the service. Who attends Orange Coast UU Church?
Our members are single and married, gay and straight. Members may have been raised in other religious traditions, but each person brings his or her own spiritual and life experiences. Some have children, others do not. While located in Costa Mesa, we are a congregation whose members also come from surrounding communities throughout Orange County. Orange Coast Church is handicap accessible.
What is a Welcoming Congregation?
Formally recognized and accredited by the Unitarian Universalist Association, a Welcoming Congregation is one that publicly and intentionally welcomes bisexual, gay, lesbian, and/or transgender people as members, friends, and guests. Orange Coast Church is proud to be a Welcoming Congregation.
How do I get involved?
Attend a service, stay for coffee and conversation, check out the information tables on the patio each Sunday. Participate in some of our activities, sign up for an Adult Program, join a Covenant Group, sing in one of our choirs, volunteer for a Faith-in-Action activity, or attend an Orange Coast Concert. For details, please see our Visitor Events page. However you choose to get involved, connecting with other newcomers or long time members is vital to a full and rich life at church.
Do I need to become a member?
No. You are welcome to participate in all of our programs and activities. Take some time to decide if Orange Coast UU Church is right for you, and whether to become a member.
You can also take a class, talk to other folks on our patio, or join one of our smaller groups. After you get to know us a bit better, we ask that you consider membership and joining us as a formal member of the congregation.
