Community Service

In times of need, OCUUC and its members give tangible support to the needs of others. We divide half of the loose plate collected on Sundays to many different non-profits and communities in need. These organizations do great work in Orange County and beyond and we are proud to partner with them.

August Recipient of Church Donations

Childs-pace Foundation operates three school-age before and after-school programs in Costa Mesa, Buena Park and Anaheim. Childs-pace began in 1978 to assist the children of lower-income families by providing appropriate creative, recreational and homework support. Childs-pace operates all year so that child care is available to students and working parents. Vacation and summer activities are offered on a full-time basis. The exceptional services give youngsters the same opportunities that most often are only available to affluent families. In an era of diminishing public and private financial support for school-based services, programs like Childs-pace are in danger of being unable to help our children grow and learn. We are pleased that Ken Arnold has alerted us to the immediate needs of this vital organization. For more information see Ken, or call contact the Foundation at (949) 548-8899 or childspa@pacbell.net.

We begin a new church year by honoring our commitment to the larger community. For more than five years, we have been steadfast in our efforts to meet a wide variety of need. The Community Service Committee is ready to accept your nominations of deserving organizations and programs. For assistance, contact Naomi Blackwood, Kathleen McFarlin or Maurice Giss.
