OCUUC/Tapestry Exploratory Task Force

About the Exploratory Task Force

At our Annual Meeting in June 2007, the congregation authorized a dialogue with Tapestry, a Unitarian Universalist Congregation, to explore collaboration options. This page is devoted to providing ongoing information about the progress of our dialogue.

Dear OCUUC Members and Friends:

Our explorations with Tapestry are very interesting. We started with joint Board meetings on July 24 and August 22, to talk as full Boards about our hopes and fears for this project, and to determine structure and tasks for our Exploratory Task Force. They started meeting in September, and I am so pleased to present their first report, comparing our two congregations. There is also a map showing where the members of each congregation live, so you can get a sense of those demographics. There were informational meetings in November, 2007, to update each congregation of our progress. We have continued these monthly meetings, to provide as complete information as possible. We took notes on the questions asked and answered, to document the discussion and make it available here for those who could not attend.

Please review all these documents, and let any of the Task Force or the Board any question or comments you may have. Please let us know what information you would like to see that is missing.

Informational Meetings Questions and Answers

The collaborative task force between OCUUC and Tapestry has been deeply committed to providing constant information to each congregation. To that end, we’ve had a series of newsletter articles from each congregational president and task force co-chair, regular communication with each board, and a series of monthly, open, “informational meetings” after services. The first informational meetings were held November 11 at OCUUC and November 18 at Tapestry. There were additional meetings on December 9 and January 13. Below are accounts of the questions and answers developed in November from each congregation. We encourage members from each congregation to check out the Q and A list from the other congregation.
