Reiki Healing Service
Wednesday, July 14, 2010
7:00 - 9:00 pm
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy (Chi or Ki)" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Please join us for a special healing service in the sanctuary. Anyone who would like to receive a Reiki treatment for a physical, emotional or spiritual reason in is invited to come.
Reiki healers are wanted and needed to make this special service a success. You will also be able to receive Reiki!

OCUUC offers a wide range of programs to meet the interests of our adult members. From personal ethics, to a study of the life and times of Jesus, to bulding your own theology to mediation workshops, you are likely to find something that will strike a chord of interest within you.
Ethics is concerned that the way we behave is determined in large part by what we believe. Individuals enjoy self-determination in behavior, within limits, and ought to use that freedom to decide their actions. During this six-to-eight week course, we confront the questions we have about ethical behavior using case studies and think through the ethical dilemmas from a liberal religious perspective. This is offered throughout the year.
In the recent past, a group of adults studied the Jefferson Bible. Written by Thomas Jefferson in 1820, it is also known as "The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth." The book is Jefferson's effort to extract the doctrine of Jesus by removing sections of the New Testament that mention supernatural effects. The Unitarian Universalist Historical Society discusses the work in greater detail on their website.
